ChertseyThe town is quite charming, with Georgian architecture, a full range of shops, a Post Office and banks, a railway station and easy access to the M25 at junction 11. Heathrow Airport can also be accessed 'cross-country' via the A30 avoiding the M25 and M4. The M3 and A3 are each one junction away. Church Yard next to cottage
On Saturday, there is a small market which goes back to the Queen Elizabeth I Royal Charter of 1599. There is also a Chertsey Museum where more of the local history can be discovered, not to mention the old Abbey grounds just a minute's walk from the cottage. Church and pedestrian access
Within the town, there are most things available. As well as a Sainsburys, there's a 6am to 10pm One-Stop convenience store. There are several pubs, individual quality restaurants, chain restaurants, takeaways and so on. There's a great fish and chip shop, too! Local One-Stop store
Chertsey rail station is on the Staines branch line which goes between Weybridge and Waterloo. To get to London, you can go to Weybridge and catch a fast to Waterloo on the Woking mainline. Alternatively, you can go to Staines and change onto the Reading - Waterloo line. This is also a quick way on to the Paddington west country line avoiding London. Chertsey is well-placed for a variety of rail journeys.
